Well said. I don't think Feaster gets the credit he deserves half the time. I can see Kiprusoff getting traded at the draft but not this season. I also see him hanging on to Bouwmeester well into next season to maximize his value. He's playing well and still under contract, why rush it? As for Iginla... well, I have no clue what will come of that. Please don't turn into our Sundin, Iggy. Please!

Nice read. As a Preds fan all we can hold on to is a solid home record with the challenges the Flames have faced on the road.
Our 4 game skid shows we don't have the balance we have had in the past.
Upside for the Preds- Trotz. He usually can find a way with little to get stuff done after a slide like this.
Here is one thing for certain...it will be a good game as both teams are fighting to get into a playoff position.

Rather unfortunate his talents are wasted for guys like Whipper and O-G to read.

Just more media BS....I dont think it was ever a valid rumour.
Besides, he's had an average season, the flames wouldn't be getting much back for him.

But the flamers really need to start their rebuild.

Well he was almost credited with losing a 1st and a 3rd round pick while acquiring no player.

I agree, nice read Colin, but I do disagree on a few things.

First, I don't look at it as a positive that the Preds are on 4-game losing streak, especially after Trotz publicly ripped his team a new one. I'm scared of the Preds tonight, I think they will come out like gangbusters. Thankfully the Flames were equally as bad last game, hopefully that helps the cause, and if it does it should be a good matchup tonight of 2 desperate teams.

Secondly, I do think the Leafs are a good trading partner for Calgary, especially given how successful we have been trading with them in the past .....seriously though, I don't see the Flames being able to build up the middle via trade with ANY team, much less the Leafs. Centermen are highly coveted around the league, and they are pieces teams just aren't willing to part with. I think the only way Calgary can get the depth up the middle is drafting.

That being said, Toronto does have a lot of good young players I think the Flames could use. Toronto also finds themselves in a position to make the playoffs for the first time in a loonnnnggg time, and having a guy like Kipper in net could do wonders for them. I also see them attracted to Kipper because of his contract. For the rest of this season, and next season, Kipper would be the perfect mentor for a guy like Reimer. It's known Reimer has the talent, but right now he isn't ready. Bringing in Kipper for a year and a half could be just what Reimer needs to finally be that #1 guy come time for the 2014-2015 season.

Not only that but I believe Kipper is only due 1 million in salary next year, I know his cap hit will be around 6m, but Leafs management would probably be salivating at the true value Kipper would be, especially when they look at their bottom line.

If I were the Flames I would try and strike gold here, Gardiner and Bozak. This would give the Flames another D-man to build around, with Gardiner and Brodie they would have a solid 1-2 punch of young, quality, NHL D-men. Bozak gives the Flames a nice option down the middle, and with the emergence of Kadri, the Leafs could afford to move Bozak IMO. Not only would this give the Flames 3 NHL centerman for the first time in a long time, Bozak can do something nobody else on the Flames can do....WIN FACEOFFS. He's young, established, and fairly skilled. I know he isn't the biggest guy in the league, but he can play. Him and Backlund would at least give us some skill up the middle, and although its not exactly first line skill, it can at least bridge the gap until we are able to find our big #1 guy.

i can see the logic in holding on to him until the offseason. with ramo coming its good on feaster to wait and see what transpires than trading the guy thats keeping the flames soomewhat relevant.

its looking more and more like iggy might be the guy packing eh?. first domino to fall. better be (frank)ing pittsburgh!

also colin, lets be honest the preds are much better than the flames. the preds are a scary team to be playing today after such losses.

Rebuild.
I'm sure you have....but seriously...its becoming difficult to watch...you dont want to lose Iggy and kipper for nothing. Sundin screwed the leafs with, I hope feaster doesn't screw your fanbase by hanging onto something he should no longer.

It wouldn't be terrible to trade for Kipper....but no way in hell would Gardiner be involved.
Kipper is having a bad year....he's bottom 3 in save percentage and GAA.
I could see it being a 3rd, a B prospect and an average forward...maybe Mac.
